APE ESCAPE MONKEY:

Hey, all! It's everyone's favorite little bugger from those kick-ass Ape Escape games(Saru Get You!). Just a fun little UT2004 test character I made.

This project was a one-man-show for me. I did all the modeling, texturing, rigging, custom animations, and exporting. It was more or less an experiment to see if I can take a whole model and have it running in "realtime". I learnt quite a bit from the experience including some painful lessons about the limitations of game engines. I used a skeletal "baking" system so I could design my rig however I wanted to as leave the "skinned" skeleton alone. It's still far from perfect, but after 5 months of solid work, I'm ready to release this. For a detailed WIP thread check out:

Although working with UnrealEngine 2.0 was a real pain, the ability to showcase my game model's in "realtime" landed me my first job in the biz so it was well worth the time. :)
