Description:
Sarah Lane from The Screensavers

Sarah, angered by Kevin P. for making fun of her Website segments, decides let loose some aggression on the Linadra combat circuit. Thanks to her years of dominating men (like D.Trip), she has proven herself well suited to kicking ass and taking names. The Screensavers may be on the verge of being canceled, but Sarah's Bloodlust is just beginning as she carves a bloody path of vengeance across the far-flung battlefields of the Tournaments.

Model Notes:

This player character was converted in response to a "User Made" contest setup on the ScreenSavers TV Show. They offered a model to the public and asked them to pose it. I took it a step farther by converting the model into a UT2k4 player model. Seemed alot cooler then just posing it in Maya. I was able to get the makers of Polytrans to convert the Maya file over to a 3D Studio format. And from there, it took me about 10 hours to rig the model to a UT player model template I had, export to UT format, and then add the necessary data files to fill out the rest of the model. The model wasn't made to be a player model, but I was able to get it to work reasonably well. If I could get my hands on a front and side shot of Sarah's head, I might redo the model. The head on this model doesn't really look very much like Sarah, and the model doesn't flatter her hips. For a game like UT, a more comic-book body shape would have been more appropriate.

This model was originally created by John Park, author Understanding 3D Animation Using Maya.

Skin Notes:

I created two new body skins, using the body skin I was provided as part of the contest. These changes were small, consisting of color changes and adding some text to her Tee-shirt. It's unfortunate Sarah dresses like it's Laundry day. Her clothing is a little bland. But it does add some to her "Everyday Woman" character. It's a nice change from the Leather clad women in most video games.

Tools used:
